About your quotation

1

How much will I receive for my car?

All vehicles entered onto the Rewarding Recycling website are matched against our weight database to ensure that each customer receives an instant on-line quote, that reflects the true valuation of your vehicle. This, together with daily updated metal, and used car market prices ensures you are offered the best price, regardless of location or condition.

2

How will the valuation you offer be paid to me?

The amount that we value your vehicle will be the amount you receive. We do not offer a price only to haggle and reduce the price at a later date. As long as the vehicle is as described, the money will be paid in full using one of our three payment options:

1) Faster Payment*

Choose this option and the payment for your vehicle is guaranteed to be in your chosen bank on the very same day.

* This option carries a charge of £5.50

2) BACS Bank Transfer*

Choose this option and the payment for your vehicle will be paid directly into your chosen bank or building society account.

Payment may take up to 4 working days to reach your account. This option carries a charge of £2.25.

4

Will it cost me anything to recycle my car with Rewarding Recycling?

No, all quotations are provided free of charge. For your free scrap car valuation click here.

5

I need my car collected - where can I leave it?

If we are collecting your scrap car, please make sure that it is

a) in a place that can be safely and easily accessed by a standard recovery vehicle;

b) the ground around the vehicle is solid and sound;

c) that there is adequate space to either drive the car or move it using a winch.

6

What does the term "complete vehicle" mean?

A complete vehicle is a car or light van which has all its essential parts. These essentials are: the engine, bodywork, transmission, catalytic converter (if originally fitted), major interior components such as seats, battery and wheels. Your vehicle does not have to be drivable nor does the engine have to run in order for it to be "complete".

7

My car insurance has expired, does it need to be valid for me to get paid for my vehicle?

No. Your vehicle does not need to have a valid insurance policy for it to be accepted by us. If your insurance is not valid, you will need to arrange for us to collect your vehicle. Our collection service is easy to arrange and above all, you should not drive your uninsured vehicle under any circumstances. Driving a vehicle on a road or in a public place without insurance against third party risk is an offence and carries penalties.

8

I want to keep my personalised registration plate - what should I do?

If you wish to keep your registration number, you must transfer it. Under the DVLA Cherished Number Plate Transfer Scheme, the process is fairly straightforward. You will need to complete the DVLA transfer form V317 “Transferring a Car Registration Number” which you can pick up from your local DVLA office or download here.

9

Can you recycle my caravan?

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept caravans under the Rewarding Recycling scheme.

10

Can you recycle my motorbike?

We may be able to accept motorcycles for recycling at selected Automotive Treatment Facilities (ATFs). As we are not able to give you an instant online quotation for motorcycles at the moment, you can obtain a quote by submitting your motorcycle details via our 'Contact Us' page here:
http://www.rewardingrecycling.co.uk/contact

11

Do I need to provide the keys for my vehicle?

It helps us to know whether or not the keys are available, however this is not essential nor does it affect the quotation. To get an instant, no obligation quote click here.

12

Does my vehicle have to be free from waste

Yes, for us to recycle your vehicle it will need to be free from waste.

Being free from waste means that your car does not contain any significant items of refuse such as garden/ household waste or old tyres etc.; basically anything that does not form part of the car itself. To get your instant, no obligation quote click here.

13

Does the car have to be free from damage?

No, but you should tell us about the damage in case it is severe enough to affect our quotation. Minor bumps or dents would not affect the price quoted.

14

Do I have to accept the quote for recycling my car?

No, when you obtain a quote from us to recycle your car there is no obligation to accept it. To get a free, instant, no obligation quote click here.

What will happen to my vehicle after collection ?

Autogreen Ltd or it's contracted agent will assume legal responsibility for your vehicle by completing the trade decleration on the V5 , and will indemnify the previous registered keeper from any road traffic claims whatsoever arising from point of collection onwards.

At the point of collection you should complete the transferred to trade declaration on the V5 document, and send this directly to the DVLA. This will notify of the transition of legal ownership to Autogreen Ltd.

The way in which your vehicle will be recycled is determined after evalaution by Rewarding Recycling or its agent, it will follow one of the recycling routes identified below:

  • Your vehicle will be recycled in line with current legislation, and will be broken for spares or other forms of reclamation. If your vehicle is recycled in this manner you will receive a Certificate of Destruction from the DVLA.
  • Your vehicle may be sold on for further use. Vehicles meeting this criteria will be transferred to Trade, and ownership assumed by Autogreen Ltd, or our contracted agent. Autogreen may at its discretion repair mechanical faults to facilitate suitability to be recycled in this way. If your vehicle is recycled in this manner, you will receive notification that you are no longer legally responsible for the vehicle.

By utilising the above recycling methods, we are able to offer the best price for your vehicle.

2

What happens when I surrender my vehicle at a dealership?

Once you have chosen to surrender your vehicle at a dealership the following will happen:

  • The dealership will have received notification of your booking and will contact you to arrange a convenient drop-off time.
  • Once at the dealership, a representative will confirm that the vehicle and all of the accompanying documents match. A receipt will then be handed to you with a PIN and instructions to release payment for your vehicle.

The vehicle should be surrendered with the following:

  • All of the available keys for the vehicle
  • The V5 document for the vehicle.
  • Photo ID

When filling out the V5 document, you should complete the transfer to a motor trader/ dismantler section and ask that the dealership representative also signs the document. You should retain the traders/ dismantlers section (9) and surrender the remainder of the document with the vehicle. This should not be sent immediately to the DVLA but retained for your records as proof you have surrendered the vehicle to a motor trader/ dismantler. Once the vehicle is treated an Electronic Certificate of Destruction (CoD) will be issued by the Authorised Treatment facility (ATF). This will remove your vehicle from the records at the DVLA ensuring that you no longer have a liability towards the vehicle. Should you not receive a copy of your CoD by email within 7 days please contact Rewarding Recycling on 0800 542 2002, and this will be investigated.

Once in possesion of the PIN, you will need to visit www.rewardingrecycling.co.uk and follow the instructions on the receipt provided. Payment will be released once the relevant information has been entered onto the website.

Once all the paperwork has been completed, the dealership will  arrange directly with an authorised ATF for your vehicle to be processed.

3

What happens when my vehicle is collected from my home address?

If you have opted for a home collection the following will happen:

  • Your collection will be allocated to an authorised collection agent.
  • The collection agent will contact you to confirm an agreed time at which the collection can be made.
  • The collection agent will arrive at the agreed time and present to you collection paperwork which will contain your vehicle details, collection address. If such paperwork is not presented either in paper format or on an electronic PDA or you are suspicious in any way, the vehicle should not be released and you should call 0800 542 2002 to verify the agents identity.
  • At the point of collection the agent will give to you a PIN number, this will either be in the form of a print out or if they show you electronic documentation it will arrive by email. You should enter this PIN number online to trigger the payment into your bank account.

The vehicle should be released with the following:

  • All of the available keys for the vehicle
  • The V5 document

When filling out the V5 document, you should complete the transfer to a motor trader/ dismantler section and ask that the collection agent signs the document. You should retain the traders section and release the remainder of the document with the vehicle. This should be sent immediately to the DVLA as proof you have released the vehicle to a motor trader/ dismantler. If deemed appropriate, an Electronic Certificate of Destruction (CoD) will be issued by the Authorised Treatment facility (ATF). This will remove your vehicle from the records at the DVLA ensuring that you no longer have a liability towards the vehicle. If your vehicle is recycled through onward sale, the "transfer to trade" decleration sent to the DVLA will notify that you are no longer the owner of the vehicle.

4

How will the valuation you offer be paid to me?

The amount that we value your vehicle will be the amount you receive, this will be confirmed in your booking confirmation that we email to you immeidately after booking. 5

How do I reclaim my unused road tax?

From the 1st October 2014, you will no longer need to make a separate application for a refund of vehicle tax. The DVLA will automatically issue a refund when they receive a notification to the person named on the DVLA register that the vehicle has been sold, transferred or scrapped.

We recommend that upon collection of your vehicle, the trade declaration (section 9 or V5C/3) is detached from the V5C registration document and sent directly to the DVLA. This will inform the DVLA that you are no longer the registered keeper, resulting in an automatic refund being sent to the keeper listed on the DVLA records. The details you will need to complete this declaration are as follows:

Autogreen Ltd.
London Road
Daventry
NN11 4ND

VAT No. 855932393

The issuing of a Certificate of Destruction (if applicable) will also serve to trigger a Tax refund to the registerred keeper.

You should remember that the DVLA will only issue a refund from the date of notification for complete remaining months of road tax. If you are no longer using the vehicle and a collection may fall into the next month you should consider making a SORN decleration in advance of collection to protect your taxation position in respect of a refund.

6

What happens after I have accepted a quotation?

It's all very straightforward. For more details about the process involved in selling your car through Rewarding Recycling, please take a look at our 'What happens next' page. If you have any further queries that aren't answered amongst our Frequently Asked Questions, please do not hesitate to Contact Us

Documentation and other legal stuff

1

Do I need to provide the registration document for my car?

Ideally, we prefer you to hand over your V5C registration document (also known as a log book) in order to issue your  car a Certificate of Destruction (CoD). However, if you do not have the registration document available, a Certificate of Destruction can usually be issued without it.

2

How will I get my DVLA Certificate of Destruction?

Your DVLA Certificate of Destruction if required for your vehicle will be sent to you electronically (by e-mail).

3

When will I get my DVLA Certificate of Destruction?

Your DVLA Certificate of Destruction (CoD) if required will be sent to you within 7 days of your car arriving at the Authorised Treatment Facility (recycling centre).

If your Certificate of Destruction has not arrived within 10 days of disposing of your car, please contact us using our online form and include your registration or reference number.

4

What proof do I get that I am no longer legally responsible for my vehicle?

If your vehicle is to be scrapped, the recycling centre will issue you with a DVLA Certificate of Destruction (CoD) which is proof that your vehicle has been scrapped legally. This Certificate shows that your vehicle is de-registered and that you are no longer responsible for that vehicle. Please make sure you keep your CoD securely.

If your vehicle is selected for recycling by onward sale, you will receive confirmation that you are no longer the legal owner of the vehicle.

PLEASE NOTE:  The DVLA may fine those who do not obtain or cannot produce a CoD to demonstrate they have scrapped their car, or other suitable documentation to demonstrate they are not the legal owner. Until you have a CoD, your car may still be registered to you. What is more you can still be deemed legally responsible for the car and therefore can be held liable for it. Unfortunately, there have been instances when unscrupulous vehicle dismantlers, who have not issued a CoD or transferred the vehicle to trade, and have put cars back on the road for criminal purposes without ammending the registered keeper details. In such instances, it is the current registered owner who may be liable for prosecution.

5
